Seamless Looping... Argghhhhh

also, sometimes the MPC does a descent job chopping it up itself. You can try that first and try to save yourself sometime before you do it manually.

I know this is hella old but I will respond because someone might still read this. I am currently having the same problem but I strongly believe it can be solved with the jjos upgrade. It let's you see the bars. Give you a FL STUDIO/MASCHINE feel. Thanks!!!

JJOS wont fix user errors

won't fix user errors? really?! just needed your 2 cents in there I suppose, well thank you for your enlightening observation sir.

I believe he has made a valid point in that the visibility helps understand and process the loops. But your point is valid too I guess. smh

nah its just from inexperience you will find it harder to do, and in some cases probably can't do it cos of a few reasons. Like the beat might be a loop but the tempo is shifting in the loop so when the bpm is analysed its like a average of the loop. Another thing is that your MPC can only go to so many decimal places and the loop might be out a fraction, which gets worse the longer it is. And just where it is chopped to.
So after considering all this you then time stretch or chop. Or take it into a DAW first and fix it up to a grid and tempo then drop it back into the MPC

My method for getting phrase samples to the correct length works every time for me.

Record a note lasting the entire length of the phrase you are wanting -into a pattern - at the bpm you will be using.

Record the pattern with the long note- followed by a blank pattern into Audacity.

Trim off the silence.

You will now have a note lasting the exact length of your loop as a WAV on screen.

Now you can put/record the phrase you have side by side (or on the next track).

The long note you have will be acting as a ruler.

You can now zoom in and match your phrase(s) down to the nearest millisecond before trimming it then exporting back to the MPC for seamless looping.
