F buttons not working/broken buttons

I haven't been on the board all too much recently... but this thread caught my eye, since I experienced a similar problem with a few of these cheap, flimsy buttons. I had the m/c in hand, ready to just try and order some replacement parts when I decided to just see if I could salvage the f-ed up ones first. Good news is that in my particular case I seem to have brought them back to life, without too much trouble, and perhaps even made them a little less flimsy, due to an unintended, but welcome side-effect.

I apologize if someone already described how they did it successfully-- I only skimmed the previous posts. If not, and anyone is still interested, I can describe what I did in the next day or two, pending when I happen to have some free time. It's not a big deal, depending on where and/or severity of the plastic crack, etc. If you've ever built plastic or r.c. models it's rather easy, at least according to how I approached it with cyancryalate (sp?) glue.

If anyone wants the play by play, just post a request here so I'm not posting crap that most anyone can figure out on their own, if they sit down and spend a minimal amount of time!

i had this same problem even on my 2000xl and i could see it coming on the 1000 i had as well. i'm not a big guy, i don't 'abuse' my gear, but i still had problems with the flimsy buttons on the newer Akai gear. they were able to be fixed somewhat with glue, but weren't the same. you shouldn't have to replace buttons on your gear with normal use. same with the pads on the 1000. quality control is low.

LoL , then why they set tha price to $1000 and over , thats stupid if a machine is worth more than $1000 then it should go down to at leat 600 or around there . akai needs to step there game up and build there machines like they used to.
