whats the 8 dollar encoder is that the entire clicky button?? soldering in?? **** thast serious!! whats that board that the buttons like cursor and mode and shift and them lay on? is that the motherbaord or just a peice of plastic?

you don't have much experience w/ guts, do you  ?

it's really nothign to be afraid of. the 8 dollars (estimated price, likely to be less) replaces another. i wanted to renew my data wheel (i'd spun the shit out of it after a year and a half) so i popped it open, heated the gun, melted the solder and pulled out the bum piece. then i threw in the new one, melted some new solder around it, and put my mpc back together. worked like new.

again, NOTHIGN to be afraid of, and really somethign worth knowing how to do. the same goes for the buttons - i reckon it'd be easier/cheaper for them. might have to buy a couple extra in case something happens.

This is about a video tutorial, not repair, there are plenty of 12 page threads for that, and I'm a "newbie". Wes you plan on a part 2 anytime soon?

Yes, the noob, not you of course, would really enjoy this and other video ideas. Especially if they incorporate programs such as FL Studio, Reason, and even Magix Deluxe when not using midi just sampling, or step sequencing. Or integration with other MPC's, or the S20. There really is a ton to do yet. After 6 years in the navy I don't mind being the noob, but this noob is going to take us all somewhere.
