i dont know much about ASIO stuff, but yeah i had the same latency issues with my guitar. found out that i had to reduce the latency on ASIO which made my pc work alot harder, so had to beef it up with more ram.
now i dont know shit about ASIO but that seemed to work. maybe someone else who knows more than i do could help you out better than i.
this is one thing that i do like about the mpc over a pure midi controler,....
if ever something gets too much for my pc to handle i just record the parts into the mpc, mess with it some more and then track it in as audio.
regarding the ASIO thingy, i've got ASIO4ALL running on my machine, but i've heard theres a couple other software versions out there. run it thru google and see what you come up with. i might be doing things ass backwards but it seems to be working fine. try installing an ASIO thingy before returning anything cos that might solve oyur problems.
