FX1/ FX2

LOL... I was just thinking the other day, which is worse raising dead threads or starting new ones without having searched on anything...

Heck I think bringing some of the classic threads back once in a while has been a treat to re-read through them, so I'd much rather have that than reading yet another 'compare this vs that' or 'how do I do xyz without rtfm'.

Anyway, I've got the KP2 and KP Mini. I think both are great. The mini is actually nice since it's portable and you can just pop it into almost any setting. Some of the effects seem a bit nicer than the KP2 (I suspect the KPM has KP3 derived FX) however there are some FX on the KPM that are just dirty as hell and not in a good way.

I haven't upgraded to the KP3 yet because, well it doesn't have phono ins and I don't have a mixer for my turntable anymore. Sure, not the cleanest way to get in a signal, but it works a charm for me. Plus I'll be honest, I think some of the FX on the KP2 are a bit more interesting than the KP3 variants. Could I make room for both, sure, but for now I guess the KP2 is doing just fine for me. Plus knowing Korg, next year they'll be releasing a KP4/Kaossilator hybred that does both.

yeah, it's a dedicated KP3 sample format. I don't remember the extension it uses and I'm not at home to check.

You can Save All, which creates a single file containing four samples as well as other data such as which pads the four samples are assigned to, the program memory settings, the mixer volume settings etc.
I think that file has a .kp3 extension, and you can have ten of them, 1.kp3, 2.kp3, 3.kp3 etc.
When you turn the KP3 on it will automatically load 1.kp3 if that file exists. You can Load All and select a different one to get another set of four samples and other settings. The downside is loading samples is pretty slow - not great for doing it on-the-fly in a live setting
