jw because it seems like some of the younger producers are the ones stearing away from mpcs and into software. looks like i might have been wrong.

it s not a question of time, but of the interface. one preferes pc or mac
others the hardwarestuff(like me) less is more, specially increative events.
it s aquestion of feel, like the mystic warm glow of tube amplification,
and..... mpcs have a special sound. i need to have hardware in my hands,
when i m makin music, and i need spontaneous not too complicate
handling for impro live sessions.....

As I said I've been debating whether to move from my 1000 to software with a pad controller.
Well I think I'll hold off for now after demoing the MPD24 yesterday triggering Reason's Redrum.
People moan about the pads on the 1000?
Well the pads on the MPD were pitiful. I don't know if I had a bad unit but they were unresponsive , even changing the pad sensitivity didn't seem to make any difference. And as for the feel of the pads, they felt thin and of poor quality. The encoders seemed ok but I've got a midi controller if I need to tweak. It's all about the pads and to be honest I would not recommend this machine.

yo Dj Conrad,
If its all about the pads - why not check Antonym & get some new pads
all the 1000 needs is a slight cosmetic change & it will last for ages , what with the JJos etc etc

hey there,
after a long time using logic i finally found my way back to the MPC and i love it. The MPC´s limitation is the biggest feature to me. You have to focus on the Music, no fancy graphics, fx´n´shit.
Ihave my external synths hooked up to the MPc and i am running Plogue Bidule, sort of Max/MSP like app, midisynced to the MPC ...
This all makes way more fun the using reason or Logic ...

i just started using it, no fancy stuff so far. I´m using it as an AU Host with totally free routing options, like multiFX and stuff. It has some pretty neat sample mangling options, it has a stochastic sequencer and tons of other possibilities. If you want to build your own FX and/or instrument you can do that too.
Give it a try, i was scratching my head how to sync it to the MPC but it was pretty easy then. there are also prebuild "bidules" delivered within you can use or extend or whatever co0mes to your mind
they have a good forum too.
if i can help you any further just let me know.
