RUMOR I HEARD ABOUT THE 1000...

I love my 1000, its small, and it handles my samples, which are the true element, if you can't write music for the love, whats the point, hardware isn't everything, it just helps out the process

Using my ears and not my ass I have to say these machines sound VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY different. I have both sitting next to each other and playing the same programs they sound different

use your ears not your ass.

and Who the hell says the 2000xl sounds "grimey". Its sounds clean and tight and fast and defined, that is its its greatness

the 1000 sounds good too but VERY different...

My friend your only solution is to hear both of these machine and see which floats your boat - don'y listen to plonkers who are just making shit up to sound knowledgeble.

apart from the OS the whole deal is about the sound... use your ears

i think the sound is pretty close. They cant be "very very very very" different otherwise one would sound like shiit and the other one would sound great. Who cares anyways, its about what you can do with what machine you got. But the thing that gets to me is that half the people who have the 2000xl probably never even tried it. Theyre just mad cause they spent all that money on that, then something new came out(the 1000) that can basically have the same effect as it(2000xl), if not better, for a lil over half the price.

I personally dont think any machine sounds very very very very different, if using the same sounds.

i think and i repeat i just THINK, since I havent touched the 1000, i would only speculate that the 1000 has more of a wet sound because it uses new techonology, where as the 2000xl uses the s2000 sound engine. maybe that would explain why the 2000xl is more expensive.

that's true, that is why a $1000 behringer digital desk sounds exactly like a sony oxford @ $80000, and why EMU samplers and roland sampler and Akai samplers all sound exactly the same - becaue they have the same samples! ....ermm NOT!

I may have exaggerated with the VERY VERYs - but that is because this thread has gotten so stupid.

My final comment on the issue:These machines do sound different and you have to hear them to know it. The MPC1000 does NOT sound cleaner, on my samples and monitors I can hear it has a more detailed top end, less defined mid and rather wholly bass. I think it sounds fine, but in the studio I'd rather work with the MPC2000 or MPC4000... can you make great tracks on a 1000? - YES! Will they sound the same as if you made them on a 2000 0r 4000 - NO!

IMO the 2000 has a very specific character that makes it great for percussive and punchy sounds, I don't think the 1000 or the 4000 quite have this quality though they do have their own qualities - the MPC1000 filters and fx are MUCH more useful than the 2000

this is all based on what I hear, not fantasy or rumour or what somebody made up

You say you have both the 1000 and 2000?well drop a beat with both using the same samples and same tempo and we'll see if ur right!

To tell you the truth i went to the akaipro.com site last night around 1 in the morn', and i heard the def jef songs he had on there, and i also download all the other songs, i gotta tell you you're somewhat right! the 1000 does sound kind fat on tops and thin on bottoms, but if you EQ the low-ends with software, it wont sound so muddy and thin-like.

yeah richard..that would help m eout alot too!!!if u have the time drop a quick trap..or even jus a drum loop..1 on the 2000xl and the other on th 1k..so we can all here the diffrence and end all this bullshit..Lol

Not sure what the other MPC's sound like, but the 1000 does sound very PHAT! The Bit grunger can make it sound like a SP1200. So if you want to do clean sounding stuff like BadBoy or Aftermath you can, and if you want to do more grimey stuff like Premier or Pete Rock you can do so as well.
