New idea for portability

ok got it working. same method as above but omitted the 12 volt regulators- positive and negative and just used a high amp 5 volt regulator(on a heat sink) coming off the 12v in.
fyi and all that

not tried laptop battery- just two 12v 17 amp hour batteries about the quarter the size of a car battery. running so far half hour no problem.
