Using MPC1000 with Cubase

my mpc isn't multitimbral (it's a 60 ;)

I seem to recall someone recently saying the MPC is only mulitimbral using its own sequencer, not from incoming midi.

Well wat works for one person may not work for someone else. I say use wat you like, and if you find your more creative sittng atop a book of phonebooks, looking into a 15" flat panel display its all gravy.

Often times ppl here say playing by ear is more "creative", and i agree. But i would hate for someone on the board to walkaway feeling that everything done elsewhere is not creative. Wherever u feel u make the best music, thats where ur the best creative IMO...

pc132: that sux that the mpc cant do that, but wat i would try (and wat i plan to do once i my 1000 finally ships ) is to make the MPC the maser sequencer and have everything running through that...i hope some1 can solve your problem though...peace

I found this post because I want to buy an mpc1000, and I´m looking for an answer for a doubt that still persists! (I have read the manual but i cant see nothing about it )

I have a roland mc 505 that have 8 parts, 1 for the drums and 7 for the synths. I like to sequence the drums on it and then with an midi-usb adapter I use fm7 from NI with ableton, and I can assign and sequence 7 parts of the mc505 to 7 vsti's Fm7 (disconnecting each part of the mc505 from the internal sound generator) what gives a total of 1 part of drums and 7 sounds from the Fm7 vst.

I want to know if I can do this with the mpc1000 beacause I want to buy an access virus classic that have 16 parts multi-timbral, and assign the 16 parts to the mpc1000 in order to have 16 different sounds sequenced buy the mpc. It´s that the same problem of you guys? It´s that possible with the midi channels, like: Midi ch1 (mpc) to part 1 on the virus and midi ch 2 (mpc) to part 2 on the virus and so on?

Sorry guys if i'm to donkey with this question but I have been searching all the way and I feel that something is missing, and I feel that its a simple thing and I am making this a big confusion

Yes, you can do that with the MPC1000. You can use different tracks/ midi channels and send them to a multitimbral synth like the Virus.
However, it doesn't work the other way round. The MPC is not a real multitimbral instrument itself: with the MPC you have 64 pads for a sequence/ song. That's all. External you can send to 32 (2x16) midi channels.
