I think they put more work into their midi controllers than anything else. They probably think that in a few years it's going to be all software.

so does that thing still work?
sony eighties stuff is great. i had a 1-bit cd player(lot like the new korg mr-1), i think it was 1989 model. my buddies got it now, as far as i know. that thing was the best sounding cd player ever! at least i thought so...
best part; i got at a thrift store for $15 and helping an old man out on stocking some stuff, he just let me price it.

wait walmart is selling akai, now? just think 24 hour akai 'purchasability' price rolldown on all blue boxed 1k's :(

for many it's hard to let go when you've been wronged, harder even when there are folks on your home team trying to tell you that you haven't when they haven't even seen the facts

Thats just the thing....I don't see anyone in this thread denying that there was a problem and it has been fixed - I do however see yet another thread with folks just straight moaning again (and again, and again, and again...... - add infinitum)

Seems these boards are clogging up lately with threads like these (Lawsuits, Fuukk Akai etc) - I mean, come on - we all know there is/was a problem - I'm not defending Akai in any way - but I would definately buy another product from them. At the end of the day without Akai - what would we really have? - A third party operating system... Folks seem to be only too happy concentrating on the negative at the moment.

What i'm trying to say in short I guess is lets see this forum get back to what it should be - A helpful, upbeat place to share tips and tricks - And not a constant regurgitation of all the same gripes people have had for what seems like ages!

Like has been said before - its just plain tired - and my heart sinks when I log in here to see what everone has been up to - to see if any cool tips are here etc only to be met with another glut of threads like this....

Forget it and move on guys!

Anyway thats my tuppence worth

"how do i hookup my"
"why do my sound cut out"
"what does midi sound like"

all stimulating threads that we're missing out on because of the continued discussion of the pad issue. people will continue to weigh in as they see fit.

i am not planning on forgetting anything.

here's the real question.

If you didn't own a 1000, or let's say your 1000 got destroyed in a fire. Would you or would you not buy another mpc1000? Knowing everything that you know now, would you do it or not? (assuming you had the dough).

That's what you really gotta ask. Personally, I would buy another one, even if it had bad pads. It's a great machine.

i would buy it used, brusted up, on craigslist, ebay or personal sale for 350 tops. the last new item i bought/will buy from akai is the hdm10, and i will never advise anyone to buy a new item from them. only used. to that extent i will continue to be "good for business" but only in the 2nd hand market.

arondbeats if you want to have a go, i'll show you how to get your beats sht on without breaking a sweat. i eat big talkers for breakfast.

"I eat pieces of shit like you for breakfast"
- Shooter Mcgavin The greatest of all time to ever set foot on a golf course.
And no I don't want to "battle" you. I just wanted you to make a negative post because you never answered my pm on how you made new pad molds. You know how boring this is? I need something to make besides music.
