So Nym, are you selling anything that requires as little work as possible, say a mold that I can simply put in, with just a reg. screwdriver?

If not, can you PM me your adress and all the info so that I can ship my unit to you. I'm in Toronto, Canada, not sure how much shipping will be.

yeah you can do that, but it's not the same as if you hit 16 levels on the mpc. for the same reason you can't hit MODE on the mpc and then pad 2 on the MPD and have it go to save/load screens.

djkoza and anyone else who really really needs pad help on the short term - i can offer you a really quick fix solution that i can pop into an envelope and ship to you. it won't last forever, but it'll put your mpc into top notch shape for a span of a month or so depending on how hard you play it. i'd send you a strip of velostat, enough for 32 pads or so, so you can fix yourself up.

pm me your addrss and i'll see what i can do. i have a lot of this stuff laying around and since i won't be using it in the final design and since it was really cheap, i don't mind sending it to some of yawl as a token of goodwill and community support.

i've never sent a letter to another country so you might have to give it a lil while, plus i'm on a trip right now in San Francisco (i love this place, so awesome) so it'll be a week before i can send it. i sent the same package to distortedtekno, if you're curious about installation or quality please ask him.

it's no permenant fix but it'll last.

For those who need to know...
This is quick and easy.

*scrape the glue off the sensors & wipe clean with paper towel and rubbing alcohol.
*wipe clean the under side of the pad rubber.
*place velostat under pad and cut to size.
*place one strip of 2-sided tape centered down the length of the cut velostat.
*peel and stick under pad rubber.
*rub surface evenly and in place.
*put your pad back together.
*repeat (depending on how many defective pads you have).

I don't really want to be opening and messing with the unit anymore. I really dig the one fix for life type a deal, so I'll wait for your mold design etc... and I'll ship the unit to you.

Does anyone have the original post with the pictures of opening the pads. I have done a lot of repairs on gear but Im a little hesitant to pry open these pads without being sure. Thanks

Hi folks. I too feel victimized and let down as an Akai user since the MPC60. Tried to go software, but you know, that doesnt quite cut it like it was supposed to, and no one wants to see laptop performers anymore.

So now with a 606, x0xb0x, 808, kpr 77, linndrum, drumulator (lemme know if you wanna sync up linn or drumulator to MPCs, i know a way that costs $0) mg1, micromoog, zvex fuzz factory fitted Jazzmaster, access virus + all the moogerfoogers, Im left needing the brain of the operation, the f@#king MPC1000, to do what it should - be responsive to my damn commands!

Is there any chance of purchasing a fix kit around? Antonym mentioned one a few posts back. Any more test reults on using tin foil?

aluminum foil don't work good at all. when i tried it, the pads kept triggering all on their own.

get at nym about that velostat. it's really cheap and it works much better.
nym saved my ass from tossing my 1k out the window. now i'm a very happy camper!

Any idea what kind of velostat sheet is best, what thickness etc?

Is there some kind of special secret to view the pictures, or am I doing something wrong. Is anyone else unable to view the pictures on the first page ??
