here is what i just found out. for all the UK cats, there will be a shippment to the UK in about the next week or two. so just sit tight, it's coming. i'm going to find out what dealers are getting them and/or how else you can get them. i am looking into seeing about the other parts of the world, without having people import them from someplace else.

sparq wrote:ok people. for those who want it, the pre-order is on....

it's called HDM10 and is retailing for $29 US. Akai direct is taking pre-orders as i type this.

It contains the metal plate that houses the hard drive, and the pin connection kit.

The drawback (for now) is that when connected, the current os will partition the drive only at 2gig. but still be fully functional. (without an os update) when the new os comes out (within the next month) it will take full advantage of the entire hard drive.

i already made my pre-order.... (my total came up to $34.31 shipping included)

the kit will be physically available between the end of this month, the beginning of next month.

with the kit installed and you have a CF card in and connect it to your computer via the usb, the computer will see the card. when you disconnect the usb and pull the card out and reconnect it to the computer, the computer will see the hard drive.

i will keep everyone updated.

UPDATE: to order from Akai direct, call 1-401-658-4032 ext 301

You got a site where i can see? Not so much for just call @ buy.

no, you can not place the order from akai's website. for right now, you have to call them. do you live in the states?

NAMM show Jan.19th! I think you're right DJ-T. No reason for them to drop it any sooner .

agh,

The list of (3) approved Hard Drives seems to have dissapeared from the akaipro website (or I just can't locate it). Can someone point me in the right direction, my HDM10 just shipped today and want to make sure I have a working drive.
