ok ok.. i use my laptop to store all of my samples.. and i just move them to the mpc through the usb.. so really i dont need a cf card.. becuase i store everything in my laptop.. and on my laptop external usb drive... i have plenty of memory there.. so im ok on the cf card right?

this is the guys store view...the DAN-EO 1GB work in the 1K...no problems at all.

i've seen them go for likr 6 bucks.

So what I'm getting from all of this... is that the max CF card we can use with the MPC1000 (with the factory memory of 16mb) (which is ridiculous) is 256MB.. of which we can only utilize 128MB?

Yet i saw at least 3 posts on here with kats using 2GB CF cards... if i could use a 2GB cf card obviously i choose that.. but i need to figure this out soon.. cus i'm going to be purchasing a new CF card this week.

Another huge Kingston RAM success!
I got my brand new MPC1000 BK 1 week ago. After 1 week I could find a ram module in my city which I need (though it wasn't easy). Brand new, boxed.

Check this:

It has 8 blocks on each side.
Now it's confirmed: you don't have to worry about the mhz. It can be 100 or 133. The truth is that you can't really feel the difference between the 100 and 133 mhz modules while loading samples. Though someone could make a 'testrun'. DDR's won't work.

So this module works perfectly. And I am happy like this:

Is there any way to bypass the memory check at boot up? I've tried the Kingston KVR133x64SC3/256 with no luck. I've tried about half a dozen other memory modules with no luck either.

I just bought my mpc (black version)...I'm wondering if there has been a change in the hardware that restricts the acceptable RAM to an even more limited selection.

you sure you clicked the RAM in place properly? it takes quite a push (within reason, of course, you don't need an elephant to sit on it for example)

Yup, I clicked the RAM in properly (I've installed RAM into many a laptop computers before).

I'm starting to think there's something wrong with my unit as I bought the actual RAM upgrade from Akai. But then again the RAM box looked damaged....

so just to get this straight, the ram i installed allows me 12 minutes recording time, when i power up the mpc it says 128mb ram installed. so the mpc is only using half that? so when i power up the mpc it could say 256mb installed if i had a 256 chip in there? which would give me 24 minutes recording time? so i obviosly have just a 128 mb chip installed. bought it from ebay, new kingston ram, works fine but 24 minuted would be mo betta.
