OS 2.0

but only one thing i can i know what im lookin for...
im starting to know what their differences are ... example: time stretch on 2000xl is slow.... 2000xl is more hands on then 1000 (u use ure computer more with the 1k... even if i dnot know y )
but in general.... i dont know what im lookin for... how can i find out..
am i gonna know when i visit a guitare center?

i had a similar choice as 2000xl can be copped for the same price. i would say wait to what ppl's reaction r to when the os comes out, seriously, it would b the difference between a good and bad decision. it depends on what u want, but seriously in terms of features listed in os 2, buying an xl now might b a mistake. it would make more sense to get a 2500 if u want bigger pads and size. the timestretching is real slow on the 2000xl, and storage options are more expensive, zips are not the most reliable format. as it stands at this point in time, the 2000xl is blatently a better machine, in terms of features, but the new 1000 os might seriously change that, and if that is the case, then u might b pissed that u could hav bought a better machine for the same price. if u r comparing the 2 machines, and are willing to spend that amount of money in this first place, u wanna make sure u make the right decesion. definitely hav a go on both in gc, but bear in mind that the 1000 is going to undergo some major improvements very soon.

The basic operations of the MPC 60/II, 1000, 2000/XL, 2500, and 3000 are pretty much the same. It is my opinion...but neither of these units are really more intuitive than the other. They are nearly the same. If you can work one, than you can work them all. You can also make the jump to the MPC 4000 from one of these and won't have such a hard time.

As far connecting MPCs to a computer...the USB functions of the MPC 1000 and 2500 is a big azz joke...especially for MPC 1000 users that don't have OS 2.0. This is not a feature to use everytime. If I want to back up my MPC 2500's hard drive to my PC..it comes in handy. But anything more than that For transferring samples back and forth from the MPC and a PC..use the flash card drive. Akai should have added the bi-directional USB functions of the 4000 to these units.

For you fellas talking about portability...grow some muscles little fellas. Grown azz men won't complain about the size on an MPC. MPCs have been transportable for many years before the 1000 dropped and many may still continue to do so..especially when the 'reported live MPC' the 2500. Besides for live performances...why transport your MPC anyway...due to their popularity and the reasonable prices they are going for these days...everywhere you go there should be at least one handy

yeh usb connectivity is super shite. that definite aint one of the high points of the 1000. but card readers are good, having one on the pc, and the inbuilt one on 1000 (and obviously 2500) makes swapping samples and backing things up very quick.
