Some of ya'll are the types to fall for snake oil everytime over and over. If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Akai's lack of support has been ongoing and delay in updates and incomplete os release isnt the first time with the 1k model. 4k anyone? Just because 1k is expensive to you doesnt change the fact that the 1k is the cheaperst mpc akai offers. Does it make any sense that akai should put in more effort to their entry level machine than their flagship model? Of course everybody wants most bang for the buck, but its like expecting luxury quality when you buy a toyota. Consumer's power is in your wallet. You bought it, put up with it. If you dont like it, get rid of it and stop supporting akai.

It may not be to you, but $900 is a lot of money to a lot of people. There are people reading this forum right now trying to decide whether to spend their hard-earned (or sometimes not hard-earned) money on an MPC, and they deserve to get both sides of the story.

What comes off as "bitching" to you may very well be avenues of interest to explore for others.

i'm pretty sure you, sparq and the very few BK users are the only people on here with OS 2.0, unless someone found it on a floppy on the side of the road or something.

I hear about not supporting the company if one is dissatisfied. I am actually content with my 2-year-old 1k. OS doesn't crash or freeze, no dead pads, no dead buttons (though they act "funny" sometimes).

Consumer power is in the wallet, but said consumer needs to be informed... both about the positives and negatives of a product. If said consumer never hears the negative experiences of others, then said consumer will get sold the "snake oil" that you mentioned.

And samuraisam, I ain't trying to come at your throat, but why do you feed into the nonsense with thepillage? His views are very clear, and probably wont change.

I wouldn't expect luxury from a Toyata (That's what Lexus is for) but I would expect reliability. I have a 12-year-old Casio keyboard that still works like the day I bought it. Why would I or anyone else expect less from an Akai product, or a product from any other company? It's frustrating that people can knock Behringer all they want, but if one has a problem with an MPC, then that person is "a compainer" or "bitching."

Consumer power is in the wallet, but said consumer needs to be informed... both about the positives and negatives of a product. If said consumer never hears the negative experiences of others, then said consumer will get sold the "snake oil" that you mentioned. And what better place to learn about all aspects of an MPC than the MPC-Forums?

And samuraisam, I ain't trying to come at your throat, but why do you feed into the nonsense arguing with other posters? You have your views, so let them have theirs.

only other thing i can think of with the lagging on my 1k is its only happened 1 or 2 times so far, but on both occasions i have had a lot of samples loaded up and been using 10+ tracks (OS1.07).
