You hit it right on the head. This OS 2 upgrade is cool. And there are always workarounds for everything needed just like the pioneers did. It is always good to learn the history and progression of the craft in order to grow and innovative like Unknown said. Some I`m sure listened to their older siblings collections and the others are getting hip to the classic preG-funk era which was cool. G-funk was cool also as it birthed part of the synth dominance of hip hop; however, really talented session keyboardists knew how to play and were in demand with samples . Afterwards the post G-Funk era was ......ohh well.............................just enjoy the mini 2500 baby. 8) 8)

input thru is the hottest new feature, you can put record on, and playdrums or
whatever, and try some samples over beats on fly. nah mean? mad cool.
mixer is hot nowadays also, q-slider handeling there is nice. i think slicing will be usefull after i get used to it... oh and the filters, aaaw siiiht! thats mad.
you know you can control the effect of filter, can make it kick in from the middle of the sample.
lot of joys, but also pains. still joys beats the pains, so this is nice

pad copy function

perhaps the best implimentation i've ever experienced. unbelieveably sick.

By UNKNOWN Mon Jan 30, 2006 3:18 am
Hey Antonym,

Exactly what does the pad copy function do- whats it all about. Im sure the info is somewhere in the manual but im taking in a lot of info these days and sometimes its just easier when one of the members just break it down in simple terms for me. If its something that can be explained simply i would appreciate it. If not i will go to the manual when im done messing around with some of the other new features.

here's the way to figure it out for yourself in a quick, effective way

go to pgm mode on one of the pgms you've got something going on in

go to the far left where it says

a
0
1

or w/e pad you're using w/ a sample on it
and hit window. boom, you can copy that pad to any other pad on any other program.

Thanks for the PM Nym & Sparq!

My work flow effeciency has just increased tenfold with that one feature. I'm pretty organized but now this adds to the creative flow during pre-production. 8)

PS- I still haven't found this in the manual yet! I must be blind. No issues w/ v2.1 for me, yet!! :P

I wasn't sure wether to report this one in joys or pains, but let's say joys.
I sliced a kick (and a snare) into 64 parts, everything was nice, then converted it into a patched phrased. The result was what I expected: a nice metallic sound.
The pain part of it was that I got an extra kick at the end. Of course this is not a bug since converting a one shot sample into a PP makes no sense, but I thought I would share. :-)

Next thing, it's not really v2 but, if you set a really short delay time to a kick or snare, the delay kind of acts as an oscillator. Funny.

Last, I've loaded a pgm and some level values were 156, which is impossible, I was very happy, I thought I found a bug. I was wrong, this pgm was pre os 2, maybe even pre os 1.07, but nothing seemed to be wrong in mpc pad 187. After a lil investigation it appeared that mpc 187 is idiot proof, but not the mpc.

OS 2 doesn't seem to be idiot proof, I have more examples. It's a shame.

yeah big old volumes like that happen when you import an akp into bluebox for some reason.

maybe new versions of bluebox can fix that up?

of course now that i chop on the mpc i don't know if it's necessary.
however, i'm pretty amped to see the new bluebox come out.

that's just the phasing that happens when you play a sample twice with one playing just before the other, you can do it by playing a sample (works best with long samples) and then copying the note, and then moving that second note back by a few ticks.

^^^^Yeah, as I said, I know. But it's funny to play with new features.

I'm not sure it has anything to do with it, but in my pgm I had the 156 level value, which is 0x9c, and would translate (if signed) as -100. This maybe a coincidence, but it's weird enough to notice that maybe some os (Maybe not 1.07, but earlier) had a signed value, minus being equivalent to plus (It wouldn't really make any sense but still...).
