Good luck with Zero-G

Mart...

I never asked you to remove the link - I simply stated the case from my point of view here which is not as simplistic as you might assume. Yes... arguably, I 'sold out' but at the end of the day, I have to pay bills, put food on the table, etc..

Put it this way, after 'selling out', I don't have a Ferrari in the drive of my country mansion while I sip champagne on my yacht (I wish!). Like yourself, I am trying to make a living out of my activities.

Yes... I cannot deny that I was p*ssed off at the assumptions you made about my actions but I have no objection to you making this material available to the MPC1k community (of which I am a member BTW - I have one and love it!).

I just wish you'd gone about it better. Imagine this post.....

"I have been in touch with Hollow Sun who have agreed to make these beatboxes available as an Easter Special for a limited period..... "

I'd have been agreeable to it. No problem... could all have been done totally legitimately!!

But let's not be silly about this. Resume the link - I hope that the MPC1k community benefits (I'll sort out the details with Zero-G).

I just had to make a point. If I had the time, I'd convert them all to MPC1k format (many are already) but I can't.

No... you just went about this all wrong - that's all! That's what ticked me off here. That and the fact that you made assumptions about my motives for withdrawing the free service previously offered.

But let's consider the matter closed. I accept your apologies and realise that you only meant well.

did you make the bendmods your self or did you get them from Pete Edwards?

The language translator looks cool. I never seen one bent before. If you search ebay often, you might be able to find some Speak & Spell Modules. As for bending, I'm not familiar with Pete Edwards. I do all my own work and I've read alot from http://www.anti-theory.com (Reed Ghazala's website) and others as well. 8)

the language translator got pretty much the same speech circuits but a wider vocabulary and had optional french, italian and spanish besides german end english. this is the one used on Kraftwerks Computer World album.
i used to bend it with a tb303 and a MS20 using using these Image thingies. (dunno what they're called in english).
really like your old Texas Instument setupl! wish i still had some of my old stuff

Steve, i don't understand this copyright thing with Zero-G.
How can they own copyrights of sounds from Roland, Yamaha, Korg, etc?
I'm not being sarcastic, just curious.

I plan on doing that soon. Coming up with all these really bizzare sounds has kept me so preoccupied to where I'm spending more time messing with these sounds than actually putting music together. So as soon as I can hone in on all this madness, I'll complete some circuit-bent beats that I've been constructing and post them up. 8)

I was wondering the same thing as well.

No disrespect to you at all, Steve. If anything, I'm thankful for these samples that you've had on your site over the years and I've never been one to complain about that.

By mart1 Mon Apr 10, 2006 9:46 am
he meant that those specific samples are the property of Zero_G not the sounds you can get out of those machines.

I know, but how would they prove that. I could've made these kits myself.

By mart1 Mon Apr 10, 2006 11:09 am
well there is a way to protect digital material, watermarking for example where you hide a "signature" into the file using steganography.
But yep apart from that theire is no way of saying what sample belongs to who, especially when it comes from instruments and that's even more true for beatboxes.
Also In the case of Zero-G they pack their samples into an encrypted file from which you cannot extract the raw samples, the only way would be to resample the sounds from that library which then would forfeit the purpose of their copyright: as you said how could they prove then that you didn't record those sample with your own machines.

distortedtekno wrote:good lookin on that upload. i have most of those free kits from their site that's on that list with the exception of a few that i'm not sure about. so i'll compoare it to what i have and i'll re-up this to megaupload to keep it from expiring. 8)
