I'm really considering doing it, that black just looks so much more badass
I bought the black case. Its awesome of course. If you dont like the Blue I recommend it.
I'm waiting for Antonym's new pads before I buy one, so that I can do a massive upgrade all in one go. I've already got a Hard Drive kit on the way.

so god damn I been trying to figure this out myself. the search button aint much help here I went thru page after page too much keyword clutter. I get hits about "who Ray J is screwing bcuz he's Black" or if someone told Tim hardway they hated black people. black forat paint, black this, blue that I just wanna know some freaking specs besides the glue. either they are different or the same, I just need a simple answer. I already own a 2000xl and mpd 16 so I could care less about the pad/ glue issue. and don't ask me why I want to buy a 1000 c'mon for the love of god here, I seen dumber questions posted get answers. if you had better luck with the searching of this topic, please send me a link or don't answer my question with a question or tell me about my production or lack of. its either yes or no, and if yes whats the differences. besides color, glue, and pads.
thank you in advance to any kind soul that can break it down and put an end to this madness,

If you have a 2000xl already... then why do you want the 1000?
just asking...
to be honest with you, they are the same... it's the OS that makes the difference. OS 2.10 Akai or JJOS...
Are you wanting the 1000 so it is easier to bring along since you have the 2000XL?

word , they are the same.. cool, thanks, I just wanna have a second sampler to sample my 2000xl programs sounds (which can't be resampled or reconverted as a wav). once I sample it in the 1000 I can add fx's and save it on compact flash and load back into the mpc 2000xl or a computer. if the computer I had was better I would had brought buy an audio interface to record my 2kxl programs str8 to my pc. I figured since my mpc was maxed and I believe spdif is a standard featrue on the 1000 it would be the best way to go.

Good luck on your decision.

there's about 25 places people were asking about pad differences between blue + black mpc1ks, and since i was curious i dropped a line to akai. response is below. just in case anyone's still wondering, cos i didn't see a final word on the subject anywhere else.
"Hi,
The pads are the same black or blue. If you are having problems with the pads I would suggest have it looked over.

got to see an MPC2000 at Guitar Center and the pads do seem to be a little bit nicer. I don't know why Akai didn't just use those pads instead... Prolly due to size constraints.
