you guys are funny. how many of you actually even touched older 12 bit samplers like the sp or the 60? i bet most of you base your judgments on hearsay and sound clips/tests on the net. of course they all sound similar. everything sounds like sh it once it's compressed to mp3. egos aside, when you hear the sound come out of this thing, it stirs up something inside. forget what the listeners will think. the instrument has to inspire the artist to squeeze something out of it. jimmy hendrix probably could shred on any guitar, but there is a reason why he chose his favorite. 1k does not do that. keep convincing yourself, 12 bit emulation is as good as the real thing, when you dont even know what the real thing sounds like. 1k is capable without a doubt. is it special tho? would akai have made it so flimsy if it was meant to be banged on at professional level. meaning reliability and top notch sound quality. if it sounds nice, you dont have to rely on gadgets and features youll never use. ha 60 users get as much hate, just because its old. and yall probly assume, people still use it for the hype. if anything 3k is the most overrated.
