IF you guys haven't noticed, I hate asking questions...

I have a Casio WK1630 MIDI Keyboard and would like to connect it to my MPC... I have all the cables connected, but I get no sounds at all.... Do I need to have the sound play through my sound system? I am not getting an sound from either device when I follow thw setup in the manual... But I haven't been playing it through my stereo, I have been using headphones.... I have a basic understanding of what MIDI is, since it is covered by every manual I have.... It s a signal, but not a sound signal. I will keep playing with my setup until I get a reply to this. The instructions seem vague, but that may be because I am failing to understand.

Please help, I have read the manul and Tutorial a few times on this subject.

I found this from Nicole

Connecting a Keyboard to the MPC:

Keyboard Settings:
MIDI OUT to MPC MIDI IN
Local Control OFF
Make sure its in Multi-Mode
Route Audio Outs(headphone out if stereo out isnt available) to your Mixer

MPC Settings:
MIDI OUT to Keyboard MIDI IN
Turn DRUM to MIDI 1A or 1B(most likely 1A)
Route Audio OUTS(stereo outs or headphone out) to your mixer

Cables Required: MIDI(2) and Audio Cables(depends on how many outs the gear has)

Example:
Say you have a bass on the keyboard and it is on Channel 2(track 2 for some keyboards with onboard sequencers)

Then the MPC should be set to MIDI:2A

So basically whatever the sound in the keyboard is the number should be the same on the MPC.

Channel 1 or Track 1=MIDI 1A
Channel 2 or Track 2=MIDI 2A

ect....

Real simple and easy.

But why do you need a mixer? And my KB only has Headphones out, but if the signal goes through the MPC why can I not see or hear it registering on the MPC......

I think I am really lost here........ I'll keep searching.....

IT helped that i plugged the MIIDI cabes into the devices correctly.

OK, so I have keyboard keys playing on the MPC... How do I get the sounds to play on the MPC, or is that even possible....

When I am laying down a sequence/track and I hit a pad, that pad plays a sample, and because I have the source sounds still on in the Keyboard (KB) they corresponding key plays on the KB.... So If I hit rec/Play what am I recording with the pads with no sample loaded to them, but a corresponding key plays, does the MPC rec the MIDI key signal that can only be played back through a mixer?

I hope I put this into words everyone understands.
