my pads arrived at guitar center today. i cant pick them up until tomorrow though. 8 weeks later. you would think akai would be making a killing off of this shit and start mass production. or at least a set for maybe 50% of the units sold with shit pads.

Sup Distorted!!!

Yeah I got them yestrday and they're in. VST only got 30 and it looks like they're sold out already. He said they were hard to get from akai.

I'm selling my old antonym pads for $75 if anyone wants them, don;t have the heart to throw them out with so many dead pad 1000's.

I posted details in a post on the JJ OS forum.

Peace.

OK, I would like some clarification. So is the pad fix kit still available or not? I still have 100% functional pads from the first batch of blue 1k's, but am considering asking for the Pad Fix for Christmas.

Edit: never mind, I was typing while the last few posts were made.

Can you elaborate on what the differences are? Do the new pads have any effect on the timing when playing live or anything like that? Better at triggering different velocity levels or anything?

mustardseed: did you JUST get them? did you get one of those emails about their shipment being smaller than the waitlist earlier in july? i'm wondering b/c i wasn't far enough in the list to get them when they first shipped this month and haven't got one from them yet (..and i'm in NC where they ship from...). thanks.

im not sure what you mean by having an effect on timing, but the pad sensitivity is great. i can hit a 2-5 velocity level with a light tap, and a 127 with a medium tap.

with the old pads, even on the pads that werent dying, i had to hit them harder to get a signal. hi hat patterns are more expressive now that every tap registers.

so to sum it up, the mpc is a lot more effective now.

Yeah I just got them like 2 days ago. I got an email saying they sent them out on the 16th.

Definitely worth the wait.
