depends on your OS, go to the load screen, select the drive instead of flash reader. on JJ has a format button on F3. unsure about the akai one

go to your load or save screen and go to utility i think select the the hard drive and format

fwiw: make sure it's a 2.5" hard drive you buy, NOT a 3.5" one, as these won't fit!

Not sure if this specific model has been noted as working:

Fujitsu 80GB MHV2080AH-R 5400RPM
And yes it does show up 76300MB (Fine with me)

Seems to be workin' cool.

i got a travelstar out of an IBM 4 about 35 bucks(30gig). i have not put it in yet...
my question is; is it essential to reformat said hd everytime i upgrade os.
currently on jjos 3.06, eventually plan to move to 4.85.
if so would all back progs reload to new os easily?
hey sorry bout this cuz i know i saw the answer b4 but can't seem to find it right now

You only have to format once after the JJ OS. But make sure to back up all your files to your computer if you have any saved.

Seagate ST980815A-RK - 2.5-Inch Ultra ATA 80-GB Hard Drive.
8-MB cache - 5400-RPM spin speed.
Also shows up as 76300MB as previously mentioned for 80GB drives.
Working fine and dandy
