Sandisk Extreme III is just their model #. There is no type III.
All CF cards are type II these days.
Earlier cards were Type I.
The difference betweeen type I and II specs are primarily the thickness of the card itself (and possibly a read/write speed). The MPC takes both types I and II.
Both types have the same number of pins.
Sandisk also has an Extreme IV which should also be type II.

I see no reason at all why the Extreme III and Extreme IV shouldn't work.
One model is just faster than the other. But also, you may not see the difference in speed when it's in your MPC due to the spec of the MPCs CF reader itself.
However, you may notice a difference in speed if you use these faster cards in a USB 2.0 card reader for your PC or any newer digital cameras.
So just try it out. Format the card in the MPC before you do anything. All this info is already in this topic, and the instructions on how to format a CF card will be in your manual.
