My finished MPC 1000

the black pads on mpcstuff can only be used once the pad sensor update has been installed whereas the vst pads can be used on un-upgraded pad sensors.

so i guess the mpc stuff pads seem better cos u already have the sensor upgrade.

the og greys r stiff but im getting used to it so it aint so bad i mostly use it on full velocity anyway unless im doing hi hats.

WTF are you talking about?

The black pads dont work on the old style pads (individual pads)...thats all...

It sounds like there have been some different production runs of both the black and grey pads, with minor variances in material and thickness for each run. Don't assume that all black pads are one way or another, and same with the greys.

My personal experience is don't buy the black pads for improved response, it waas the least effective thing I did to improve pad feel.

The black pads definitely have a gap. When I got the new 1k the grey pads it came with had no gap. But it never bothered me all that much.

So did you switch to black pads anyway? Maybe I can buy those grey pads off you, mostly out of curiosity

Yea I switched anyway. Even though there was a gap it wasnt drastic enough to make me want to switch back.

As far as the greys, Those are long gone. Gave them to the kids to play with after I swapped and well...there isnt much left of them

Has anyone got a template for the lettering as styleflip dont do the clear sheet with lettering as i have contacted them

lol yup u r correct i thought i saw some black pads on ebay that u could use without installing the sensor upgrade.

but was mistaken im getting used to the rock hard grey pads so will likely only upgrade if sensors die

are u gonna re letter in vinyl? if so, what is the template worth to you? not to sound like a money grubbin ****, but i like to help people out if my efforts are appreciated in the form of paypal deposits. i could create a file that would work with any vinyl cutting machine to cut out your template. the only thing is, can a vinyl plotter cut out letters that small? pm me.

dont do vinyl..the letters will eventually peel unless u clearcoat over them,,,do it screen printing style..its much more authentic..check this out..

yeh thats more like what i was after. the only vinyl i was thinkin of was a clear sticker just in the square area around the pads with lettering and just the pads cut out. How did ya go about the screen print style? did ya just use a small letter template and colour in?

before i painted it i took it to a screen printing shop and had them make the template,that way is in there hands now..if anything looked funny it would be on there doing..but i paid 170 for the job,so its not the cheap way out,thats for sure.
