Loved my MPC1K since the day I bought it. Great news that this machine is going to realise its potential.

The following hard drives have been tested and approved for use in the MPC1000:

Fujitsu
Model: MHN2200AT

Seagate
Model: ST92011A

Toshiba
Model: MK4026GAX (40GB)

Sup bro? Yep, these drives will work in your 1000. If you haven’t taken it apart yet:

It’s pretty easy. Just need to take off the screws holding the bottom plate on. Then the sides, then the face of the Compact Flash. You’ll see an empty slot for a hard drive with a ready pin set. These 3 drives have been tested and approved. Ain’t that cool???

You’ll need some sort of case to hold the hard drive. We have them on order, but they won’t be in for a while. If you’re a computer guy, I’m sure you’ll be able to find some sort of housing that fits.

as far as the 1k recognizing the hdd, it should automatically add an option to the save/load source for hard drive.

as far as a needed os upgrade, we wouldn't need it for the hdd but one is coming

a conversion kit is also becomming available for this as well.

Damn this is good news cause just using the compact flash is not enough space

I just got off the phone with AKAI tech support and the guy said to go ahead and get a hard drive and install it and it should be good to go.

What About The Connecting Cable? Anyone got any Info on that? The Connection on some of these if not all is "44 pin IDC". Is That what the MPC 1000 has? Comp Techs Shine some light.

Thanks

when it says. "need some sort of case for the hdd" whats that all about? i figured the slot would be kind of how it works on a pc just slide it in and screw it up. im assuming the mulit pin ribbon that comes off the hdd just clips straight up onto a recieving pin? what about power?im not much of a techie so i justg want to get this cleared up for me:)

how would we get power to the hard drive? and i just took my mpc apart, that connector is definitly something different! i wanna get a drive and try this out..but how does this work!

Eh, so it take Akai 18 months to test 3 drives?

If anyone finds a suitable connector looks like we're good to go. But that's one freaky looking setup.

Jim.
