You ask why 256MB?

The Ram is 64x4. meaning it has 4 banks of memory that are 64MB's Each
The MPC1000's hardware structure only can read one side of the ram chip or two banks if I'm not mistaken, (someone hear can confirm the right reason) anyway.. it will only read half of the Ram so there fore if you use 128 only 64MB will show up on your MPC1000. This is why we use 256MB so that 128MB shows up. Now dont complain about 128MB cause thats the max the MPC1000 deals with. So dont buy 512MB!

Now why do we buy it? cause its cheaper to buy 3rd party Ram than Akai's ram. Akai charges 3 Times the amount for their ram which is still 3rd party ram made by 'Hynix' which is ironic to say the least in my situation, though I got mine out of a second hand laptop in a compuuter fair. So do the math. Pay $99 or £99 for 128MB of Akai ram when in some PC stores $99 or £99 can buy you 1gig or more of ram!! erm...I think not akai!! so why not buy a well known and trusted Brand Like Kingston and install that instead for $45 or about £30-£40 of 256MB.

Pulled the 128mb SDRAM Non-ECC - 133.0 MHz SO DIMM 144-pin
out of an old HP omnibook XE3 seems to be working.

Fair enough its only giving me 64mb but its not 16mb.

update im gettin glitches its comin out

Will this work fine on mpc 1000? Anybody tryed it?

2GB Kingston 50X Elite Pro with Chameleon?
2GB Kingston With Lotus
2GB 133X Kingston with Green Flowers

All of this works or not?

Ok right, so for my 500 I need to buy a 256? Iv seen a few on eBay All the specs are correct pc133 144 cl3 256 and most have 8buses four on each side basically 8x32, will this fit? As I know the 500 takes low diameter

I ordered a 4GB [High Velocity] CF Card.
I did this after watching a video on YouTube by ceetheproducer

From experience, I know the higher velocity cards run through faster when loading up samples on MPCs. I have a High Velocity 32MB CF Card (Yeah I know that's not a lot), and have used it on my MPC loading the same Autoload in comparison to the stock CF card AKAI provides; the higher-velocity one runs a lot faster so I'm posting a link to one incase anyone wants to cop a faster CF card. I did this before I had my EXM128 installed so the lag was still intact when loading samples. If you're skeptical you can still order a 1GB one by Transcend, just make sure it says 133x. If it doesn't work with my MPC500 I can still use it to store things so whatever, but I'm 99.9% positive it's going to work if I format on PC first then Format on the MPC500.

I already ordered a 3rd party EXM128 card off eBay not too long ago and it works. It's from EveryUpgrade / Parts-Quick.

My MPC500 specs: 128MB EXM128 RAM & soon to have the 4GB 133x (High Velocity) CF card, still waiting for it to come in the mail. I have the 32MB High-Velocity CF Card, the stock/regular AKAI 128MB CF Card, and a Mr. Flash 256MB CF Card right now.

i didnt read the whole topic i read about 10 pages and i want to ask if the pins number have to be 144 for example is this Global Memory PC2700 / 256MB / 333MHz / DDR / 200pin SODIMM / Laptop Memory ok???
