that's typical of them to do, so it's no surprise.

Props to Antonym and everyone else fighting this worthy cause, its about time people addressed this issue head-on and started getting onto Akai on a more serious level, i have a couple of friends who suffer from this dead pad syndrome, luckily my 1000 is next to brand new and had minimal use, so no probems for me .....yet!
Maybe if someone started a mass petition among 1000 users from this site and others like it, get as many as we possibly could, and kept bombarding the b*stards with it, maybe they'd take notice after a while??
This issue is p*ssin me off, and i dont even have the problem yet, its knowing that i will that bugs me.

As an owner of a mpc 2000xl, and user of every mpc. I can tell you that the 2000xl was the last mpc made worth a damn. sure the 1000 and 2500 have more features but they're fragile when compared to all other mpc's. the only thing that would make the company get of it's ass is a class action lawsuit. as Nym said you were all mislead. I'll bet you could easily get 15 to 20 thousand signatures from pissed off 1000 users. they'll listen then. at the very least they would order the better pads, but they will charge the flowers out of you for them (corporations don't allow profit margin to slip). just my opinion. now go get 'em. one.

it's no longer worth the energy to pressure akai about pads for the 1000. too much time/effort/money spent towards...giving akai more money. not my scene
many of you are aware how close i am to using different parts to completely repair/augment the 1000 pads. this is what we should focus on from now on IMO. anyone else who is interested should try to make a fix thmselves - meanwhile, i am so close that my fingertips are constantly bleeding from soldering iron burns.

I'm still in full support of Nym, since Akai fail to do anything (and not even address the problem).
However, if someone were to start a petetion (there's online petition sites to be utilized for this puprose), I'd still sign it out of principle.
jsolace - do a google search for online pettitions, and we'll be right behind you. nym will sign it too, i'm sure.
hell, even jahrome would sign it as well... no joke.

My second pad is going out...I noticed it about a month ago...the screen has a little haze in it as well...my system is about 6 months old...I seldom if at all let anyone in my home studio use it...exception ofcourse, myself...the first system I purchased was a returned item (about $100 off the price) but I purchased the extended warranty...it didn't work at all, I got a new one under the warranty....looks like I'll be taking this one back...its a great little box...If I have to take it back I may sell it...new or a repaired system...I came here to get feed back on the 2500, I may upgrade to that one...ticks me off that I have to set the pads on full level to get a good hit out of that second pad.

consumer fraud.
consumer fraud.
consumer fraud.
The pads are not the same but are advertised as the same!
I did not know they had manufactured the 100 pads themselves and not used same sensors as others..
can they be reported to a consumer watch dog?

to be honest, i can't find any thing that actually relates this to consumer fraud as they're not advertised as the 2k pads.
