you won't be screwing over anyone else if you send back the unit saying there is a design flaw. after all, there was. that way, you basically ship akai their first design right back to their doorstep.

AHA! look at this (got posted in the 1000 jj os forum...)

So back in march i bought a black MPC 1000 at guitar center, it came in and older looking blue box and had no memory card or power chord. My brother got one in summer and his came in a black box, had a memory card and the paint job was different - AND he paid the same price as i did.

My MPC1000 worked fine, but i was wondering why my brothers was different with a memory card, power chord, and more sexiness. Like i said it worked fine but its the principle of being told your item is new - when it turns out when i asked the manager, my mpc happened to be an out of box floor model. So i complained to the manager and told him i want a brand new mpc ordered last week - i just picked it up today. Little did i know the new MPCs are shipped with the new pads, i had no warranty and no recepit for an item i bought 6 months ago.

I feel bad for all the other mpc1000 buyers that got stuck with stiff pads, if u have a warranty or some kind of defect or mistake u can put on guitar center, bring it up to the manager and try to get them to order u a brand new one.

BTW anyone know if/when JJ is coming out with an OS that has a lower threshold to accomodate the new pads??

AKAI, HOW CAN YOU CHARGE PEOPLE FOR WHAT IS NOW FACTORY INSTALLED?

you think i should break my pads on purpose and send it to akai? i'm pretty sure i got the extra warranty when i bought it from guitar center. i'll have to check the receipt. but you think it's worth a try? they'll have to fix it and i could get new pads..

no, they come with adhesive. the back of the sensor bank is 3m adhesive

I RECENTLY UPGRADED MY MPC SOFTWARE TO V2.11 NOW I GET NO SOUND FROM THE OUTPUT JACKS INCLUDING THE HEADPHONE JACK. EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTH BUT NOW I HEAR NOTHING. CAN ANYONE HELP?????????????????????????

I just e-mailed a reply to Akai, complete with pictures to show them just how full of shit they are. (thanks for the pics ceo-master)

Everyone, please e-mail as much as you can complaining. We got them to make better pads, maybe we can convince them to give them to us at a better price.

I sent them a nice nasty 1 today. With a side of guilt trip, and a splash of threats. WE WILL GET JUSTICE. I got a lawyer homie who is a musician and an uncle who has been in sooo many class action lawsuits that he done graduated! Diploma and all! So I can check into the legal side tomorrow no prob. Can someone just PM me and remind? Around 10 30 a.m. PST. We're bout to go sooooo hard on akai that they will crack under the pressure.
To make matters worse, when I was leaving Guitar Center tonight after trying to return my MPC for 1 with the upgrade, I pull off and look to the left just to see a grey Mazda 6 with a customized plate reading: "AKAI MPC"! NO JOkE. I got sooooo mad! What a kick in the balls. I was wondering if he was an employee, like an Akai rep, cause I would've sooo let him know how we all feel about the matter. But I left after 9 and they gated the entrance so I just bounced and talked crap about Akai the whole way home. I wanna stick my foot soooo far up their @$$3$ that they'll be smelling Nike Tennis Classic SB's for a month!
