How to slice samples

a friend of mine has the blue mpc 1000, and we were watching a vid on youtube of someone with the black one, doing samples from records. but we got to one part where he has the slice button on f5 and my friends doesnt, is there any other way to get that function out of this model?

Try Updating i had the same problem just download the jjos or go to akai and download akai os from thier
