I keep reading posts on this"and other" forums about chopping samples......I am mainly influenced by anything wu tang related and have heard the the Rza uses this quite frequently. So, I think I am confused as to what exactly chopping samples is.....i originally thought that it was simply using EX" three bars of a piano loop, then inserting a horn riff for the fourth bar".....but it seems like always I am wrong.
In other words....what exactly is "chopping samples"? thanks to all. Glance

chopping is basically trimming the sound to your liking, this can be taking 3 bars of a four bar loop or even taking a single note and playing your own melody with it, or even taking a kick and a snare and some hihats off of a record with a drum break and making your own drum pattern. Hope this helps you out.
