poly/mono hi hats

hey!!

was hoping for some help here..

so say i have a drum kit chopped and loaded up i have a closed hat and an open hat...NOW...i want to play the closed hi hat then open hi hat and go back to closed x repeat

BUT when ever i hit the pad with the open hat it plays the whole way through and i would like it to cut off when ever i hit the closed hat once again...ive tried messing around with puttin the open hat onto mono/poly etc but nothing seems to be working out...

can anyone enlighten me please..

mute groups, f5 in GPE i believe
or you could simult the open hi hat to the closed hi hat and turn the open to NOTE ON
then you could use the same pad for both open and closed hi hat depending on whether or not you hold your hand down on it.

However, I am a lazy dude and I use a cheap fix for muting/choking hats.

I usually track each drum seperatly so I have seperate programs for kicks, snare, hats etc. Setting the hats program to mono (rather that ploy) works for me.

Having said that, I should pull my finger out and learn how to do simults/mutes.
