sorry to ask something thats been asked a million times....

i am still having a bit of trouble getting my sample to only play untill i release the pad....i know i have to do something with the note key, i think i wrote the process down wrong...thanks guys! Jimmy

On the 2kxl it's called NOTE OFF when you want the sample to play until you let the pad go.

On the 2kxl it's called POLY when you want the sample to play through once when you tap the pad.

On the 2kxl it's called MONO when you want the sample to retrigger and cut off that same previously hit sample if it's still playin.

I don't know what the 1k calls it but it might be similiar, don't know.

In program mode, go to the name of the sample you want to change, hit 'window' and select 'Note off' instead of 'one shot'.
