Transfering data from my MPC to my PC

Hi, I'm using Windows XP and I have noticed that when I am done transferring my data. Sometimes the removal icon does not show up on my task bar. I am left with no choice but to turn off my MPC. Should I not be doing this?Is there a way to find the removal icon on my PC when it is not located on the taskbar?

Any input on this subject would be most appreciated

don't understand this... i use XP too and as soon as i plug in my MPC and select USB the icon appears...

are you saying that when you plug in your mpc that the icon sometimes does not appear?

Use the right mouse button while your cursor is above the cf card icon (in folder my computer). 'Remove' is somewhere in that menu.
Don't switch off your mpc but remove the usb cable from it. Hope this helps.
