computer no longer recognises card?

AKAIOS2.12, since installing this update the saving / loading has been glitchy. it never saves anything first time, there's always a 'create error!'. then sometimes when you browse the card there's no folders on the root so you have to turn off and on again and the folders re-appear. now when i plug the usb cable in the card doesn't appear on the desktop? worth a format?

compact flash isnt a prefect format thats for sure, see if you can get your folders to show one more time to do a final backup.. but its nice that you've backed up recently. and yeah, definitely reformat the card in the mpc, but bear in mind it may not fix it permanently (if at all.)

as far as the akai os goes... i dont trust it. dont rule it out as a cause of this problem. imho.

no. here's 3 reasons why, pick whichever works for you:

the mpc is plug and play, its been working for months (on the current driver....if there were such a thing), im on a mac.

Well none of these really work for me, kinda like your card doesn't work for you!

formatted the card and its working again.
