friendly advice and tips needed

Hi,Im a mpc 500 owner.I orderd the mpc 1000 im upgrading this week.Is that a smart move ,and is there any tips anyone can give me.I have a korg micro x and protools with mbox2 with lots of plug- ins with a strong pc.

right off the bat ...yes it a smart move, congratulations on the 1000 ! ! Get JJOS ! even if it is the free version. Heres The Low Down if u dont know already .....there are 3 different jjos's 1 is completely free (and u can save ur projects)and it does the job if ur on a budget, then there is jjos1 (cant save projects unless u buy the password ), and then u have JJOS2 which u cant buy the password until u have purchased JJOS1. Either way ...they all are superior over Akai OS. Basically with the JJOS2 u end up with a mpc 2500 minus the tilt screen.
