Ok I bought the MPC 1000 about 2 weeks ago and last week my lil cousin came over and ended up touchig my MPC and breaking the memory card reader slot... . I looked everywhere online for a replacement part and I found out that the same piece costs 125$ to get. I decided instead to spend an extra 25$ to get an 80GB hard drive.

Now my question is if I install the hard drive and then connect the MPC to my laptop via USB will my laptop see the MPC as an external hard drive so that I can dump all my sounds into it easily? Also I'd like to know if I'd ever need to use the CF cards again if I have a HDD?

I'm also planning on upgrading my RAM to 128MB is that a good decision?

thanks in advance

From what I've read when I searched around for this info (hint) was that the 1k is a BIG usb writer/reader device also.

U can switch between hd and cf on the 1k usb screen.

You might be able to find info confirming my statement in the manual as well.

People keep confusin a dry azz joke for sarcasm and "attitude", lol.
Maybe because I don't place a million and one smillies on my post.
They need to quit.
