so i scanned the manual on how to midi a up a keyboard to the mpc so i can play melodies using the samples, and all it says was go keyboard midi out to the mpc midi in and keyboard midi in into the mpc midi out, i did this and nuthin happens im sure theres sumthin else u gotta do , i selected the active track to recieve all chanells and i selected soft thru as track, even tho i have no idea what the hell those mean i followed the directions in the book and still cant figure it out, i basically want to add some keys to my beats you know,can anyone gimmie sum direct directions, i got a yamaha psr 292 and mpc 1000,thanks

you got the midi cables right.

Soft thru repeats the midi on the MPC's in to the MPC's out. most midi gear have a dedicated "thru" port...but with midi routers, they are become scarce on alot of recent gear, hence the "soft thru".

next, do you have audio connected from both to a mixer, etc?

Last, you got a program loaded with samples assigned?

no im not using any type of mixer between the mpc and the keyboard i just hooked up the cables in to out,out to in , and yeah im jus pretty much tryinmg to trigger samples that have loaded in the mpc with the keyboard
