Samples cuttin out.. grrrr

Got my drums on a track, wanted to drop a 4 bar sample on em but it keeps cutting out as i play it.. dont cut out when i play without recording or without the drums playing.. and it definitely isnt a mute group problem.. it just dont wnna play 4 bars with the drums.. tried step edit too.. no luck.. almost like the polyphony is run out but with 4 sounds playing? lol.. help me! its VERY frustraing

changes it to keygroup instead of drum track will fix that right up

also make sure you polyphony is set correct

Poly settings are def correct... treble checked them.. thing is.. the samples are cutting out at (seemingly) random times even on playback?

just noticed sumthin...

got the hats on one track and snare n kick on another.. when i mute either of them tracks (or both) the samples play fine, all 3 tracks together and it cuts out again.. i did layer mydrums up pretty thick (4 snares, 2 kicks, and 2 individual hats) but surey it can play 6 samples together?

If those are stereo samples then add them all up and multiply by 2. Thats how much polyphony you are using. The 1k has 32 note poly so keep that in mind.

drum samples don't need to be in stereo, for the most part. i originally made this mistake a long time ago when working with a DAW, scratching my head wondering why my computer was crawling at a snails pace. so it's quite common for this to happen to those who are new to working with digital audio on just about any setup.

this will always be a topic that comes up until we're all sitting in our rocking chairs with an mpc80000 and a pair of headphones.

TP, you are working with a sliced drumbreak ain´t you? And you are letting the sample come in from the same program?

If so, this might very well be your problem:

Go to Program mode.
Press F3 "PARAMS".
In the upper right corner you have a parameter called Play mode or something like that. This decides wheter the program should be monophonic or polyphonic.
If it´s set to "MONO", switch it to "POLY".

If you created a program automaticaly frm the Slice-Convert screen the program is MONO by default.

If it´s not this you might check the polyphony.
