MPC 1000: drum roll conflicts with loop.

Hi there.

On my drum track, I did a snare roll (all by hand and via Step Edit to make it all sound as natural as it can be).

Now here's something weird: the snare roll conflicts with my sample on my "loop" track... The sample stops playing near the end of the snare roll.

When I put my "loop" track on solo mode, everything's fine. But when I play both tracks at the same time, it conflicts.

By the way, the snare roll is made with only one snare, and there's no mute group or anything attached to it, so that can't be the problem.

I also tried to isolate the snare roll on an independent track (without the kick and the snare), and it still doesn't work.

I mean... Everything works fine when I take out a few snare hits in the roll, but it doesn't sound like it should!

Is there anything else you could drop out to let the Loop and the Snare roll coexsist......I've been runnin into this prob alot these days.....But I mannage to work around it.

It dosn't matter if you have them on a diff track ...........Your gonna have to take sometin out completely.....You got hi hats goin crazy or somthin.....

If your playin just a d loop and a role with nothin else I don't see how you could've max the poly.......There must be more to it.

Just the snare rolls, and a 2 beat sample!

The roll is quite long... It's not the typical, 2 hit roll. It's more like a whole decrescendo of snare, then a crescendo, jazz style...

Could you change the snare to mono , or would that mess it up.....Or would that even fix it?

set your snare to monophonic playback. drums by default should be "individually mono"
not per program but per pad.

Thanks! Putting my snare to mono fixed the problem, but the snare roll sounds stupid now...

But here's the thing: I layered two snares on the same pad. I took one out, left it to "poly", and everything's fine.

Now I have to search for another snare, that has the same texture than my previous layered snares, but at least everything's workin'!

Put everything back like it was when the roll sounded right, then just SOLO the snare roll track and resample it into a new sample.
All you will have to do then is use that long sample for the roll instead.
Gives you back a lot of extra polyphony.
