Slaving and Master 1000 with Cool Edit Pro 2

I haven't worked with Midi before. I just want to know how I would go about setting up my 1000 as either a slave or master. I'm not sure which one will work best for me that's why I want to try both.

I would like to be able to use the midi sync for recording tracks, but I just don't get this shit! I need a walkthrough!
