ok so heres my 1k with all the led's changed out to blue. except for the 2 record and the undo led's they are still red. but i wanted the contrast of those buttons.

this is my opinion on the actual build quality of this mpc. the pcb is the cheapest i have worked on in a looooooonnnnnngggggg time! if you are going to attempt to change out your led's. then be warned. within seconds the trace leads were falling off the board. the epoxy coating is so poor i was able to gently brush my iron over a trace and literally rub the top layer off to expose it. i had to rebuild 3 circuts to get all of my lights working properly. the whole job only took me an hour start to finish. it wasnt a headach or anything to do. but i now fully understand how come they can offer this unit at a significantly lower price point than any mpc before it.
i have alot of experience with this type of thing too. not an amature or even a novice here. i have a station just for soldering in my shop. i wont be opening the case again. if anyone has questions feel free to hit me up.

Never had the traces coming off when I did my LED change. Still got a few more to do myself...

Sounds scary though. Maybe build quality is different across models. I've got the BK, you get the BK-N or original blue?

You are right though, definitely not the highest quality parts in there. I thought about doing a few mods to add in some custom made fx circuitry/filters before the outs and thought better of it before I got started. There is some room in the case to do something cool in there, but I really don't want to mess up my MPC either.

same model as you. bk. but i would assume the there has been some component changes over the life of this model. thats typical anyway. there was 7 versions of the original xbox. alot of internal changes wrapped up in the same case. same with ps2. more versions with them actually. everytime you see a pricedrop. they have produced the unit cheaper.
