chopping samples and cut off time on mpc 1000

i have jjos1. i chopped the sample to 16 regions, placed it on pads. how do i get a pad to cutoff the pad playing before it? I want all pads to cut off all other pads. also, is there a way to adjust this setting for each pad individually?

Setting the program to mono I think is the better solution for what he's looking for. Mute groups is a bit overkill isn't it?
