data wheel issue (Why was my last post locked?)

Hello All MPC 1000 users big up urselfs,

Now before I start the mpc1000 has given me nothing but trouble from day 1.

first problems with loading/saving programs and samples (sure) you all know about that. Then the thing decided to fall apart so I had to repair the buttons and switch a few buttons I didn't use (16 level) for buttons that I did but broke (mode) and (mean) which are essential.

Once this is fixed know the data wants to stop working but in true mpc1000 style it is not totally broke.

It works perfect on main screen when I select sequence, tempo, track but as soon as I go to program nothing, Im turn the wheel in every direction slow, fast, short, long nothing.

Now if i press WINDOW button it takes me to the program edit page I go to the top select the program turn the wheel and it works perfect WTF.

So in order to select a program for a track I have to go to the program edit screen, select the program and then back to the main screen as this is the only way its works.

After all the hassle with this machine I'm ready to shoot it or myself.

oh yeah I am using jj 3.06 so I thought that may be the problem So I upgraded to 3.08 i think but it's exactly the same. The downgraded back same sh*t.

This has got to be a software issue but how do I fix it?

I should just buy a 2500 but after this experience I may have to start using the pc.

Any one had this issue?

Because it has nothing to do with JJOS.

Just buy some new buttons and a New Data Wheel Encoder from VST.

If you don't have any soldering skills to fix your Data Wheel Encoder, just sell it and get a New MPC or PC to save yourself the headache.

the data wheel is fine because it works in all other sections except for the program bit on main page. So it has to be a software issue other it wouldn't work at all.

If i get this encoder this acutally sort out my issue because I doubt it will. Someone please confirm because if it was that simple how your the first person out of so many to post a comment?

Do some research duke. Read a little bit, google a little bit and what not.

And if you don't believe our info... time to say peace and be on your way.

We would love to help (with some sarcasm) but you have to do most of the work.

Is this your first MPC? Did you get it from ebay? Are you still in the first month of the purchase? If so, send it back and ask for the repairs... unless you got it "as is". These machines are real easy to fix (especially with a non-mechanical dude like myself). I was able to change some things under the hood and made some enhancements. You can do the same. On your own... with some research.

What research I already searched here under 'broken data wheel' 'data wheel not working' and found nothing then 'data wheel' and found 1000 plus subjects but couldn't find one about mpc 1000 and my issue.

if you guys know the knowledge why not let me know this is a forum and its not a crime to ask a question.

I don't understand why because you on the internet its all 'do a little research' and smart little comment like that.

If I approached you on the road to ask you the time you would tell me if you knew it not start talking about I should make an investment in a watch.

People react w/ "read the friendly manual" like that BECAUSE there HAS been many threads on this before. You didn't know how to search or whatever else the case may be. This forum has been here for a long minute and your problem has most likely been covered, so, get to know the forums search engine.

I searched for the above and came back with results in 5 minutes..

read my post none of the links you posted are anything like my problem. The wheel works fine on everything but the program selection so the wheel encoder is fine is it not?

why is the encoder gonna work when it highlight track select and not program select?

don't sound like a hardware problem to me seems like a software issue. wouldn't you say?
