My MPC 1000 isn't reading all my .wav samples

I have a bunch of samples on my hard drive but only some of them work. I know they are all .wav files so whats the problem? When I'm browsing the hard drive's files the names show up but when I press play, some of them just don't work. Do I have to change the files name for them or something? Help me out here cause I'm going crazy!

theres a 16 character limit on the name,

also make sure they are .WAV 16bit 44.1

yeah, if the bit and sample rate are wrong, you'll get a "wrong file" message.

If you try to load multiple samples with long names, where the first 16 characters are the same across a couple files, the MP will think it's all the same file and only play one as it only recognizes the first 16 letters/numbers, etc., even though all those files are still there on your hard drive taking up space.
