Crackles when switched on

Hi - got my MPC a couple of weeks a go. When ever I switch it on, after its booted, for the first minute when i play a track I get pops and crackles out of the headphones randomly as if its warming up (They do not exist on the samples). It works fine after that, it as if may be the processoer is working over time for that minute whilst it gets its head together - is this normal??

what is it plugged into?
what other equipment do you have near it?
is it just the headphone output that does this?
and what does the crackle sound like (more specifically)?

Its sounds like digital errors - like quick sharp pops in the headphones. It happens from the phones output and line out. It occurs when I have nothing else connected except headphones. I'm not to bothered about it, just wasn't sure whether to return it incase it manefests into something else - I take it yours does not do this? Oh yeah it makes no odds what power socket i plug it in to, the same occurs... But like I say its just the first minute, random pops. Hope this is clearer.

Hi - I sorted it i beleive. Spoke to Akai in the UK. Did the factory reset. That sorted that but the contrast was then set really high. JJOS didn't have the contrast control (I couldn't find it anyway) so I had to go back to the Akai OS. Pushed up the contrast - seems sorted - thanks for prompt response - Dan

weird problem...

to adjust the contrast on jjos, just hold the stop button and turn the data wheel.

Cool - i've seen some good points about JJOS but there are some quarky things on the free version. Like when you edit in trim via the slider the illuminous button stay on - i'm new to it all, but have not seen any real benifit... What version do you use - why do you have a prefernce?? Bit unrelated but intreioged - cheers

best option to somebody with no other outboard gear is at least jjos2. mainly due to the inst track feature. other than that it is overall better and more stable than the akai os.

Ignore prevous mail - problem is still there... I'm going to return it.... Try an get it replaced... ANyone else had this issue?
