Hi. I am new to this forum and I am trying to learn the mpc. I am helping a friend with his unit, I upgraded the RAM and put in a 120gb hard drive. To get the unit to properly recognize the drive, I had to updgrade to JJ OS 3.08. This is fine, and now I am trying to figure out how to best use the new equipment. I've run into some stuff and I don't know if it's bugs or the expected outcome.

Basically, I want to be able to easily load up a song or group of songs all at the same time, unloading what was in memory previously. I had thought about just loading all the songs up with autoload, but I have run into a limitation of having no more than 24 programs loaded at the same time.

So I have created seperate directories for different songs, each directory holding the program, sample and sequence files needed for one song.

So I go and load SongA by loading it's directory, and everything comes up peachy.

Now I go and load SongB by loading it's directory. I use the Clear Option to clear the memory first. SongA's programs and samples are unloaded and SongB's are loaded. However, SongA's sequence stays in memory at Seq01, now unplayable because it's programs are not loaded. SongB's sequences are loaded after SongA's in the sequence list.

Is this expected behaviour, or is this a bug?

Also, is there a way to easily clear the unit's memory so I can start loading from scratch?

I've tried some other things, without much luck, so perhaps a better way to ask my question is: If I have songA's (and only SongA's) programs and sequences loaded into memory, how can I easily get to a state where I have SongB's (and only SongB's) programs and sequences loaded into memory.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

dump the mem like you did. but before the other files are loaded. simply erase the previous seq's. just highlight the seq and hit window. then load your new folder and it will start at 1.
