Hi all .....
Listen, I have only owned my MPC for a short while now, but I cannot state strongly enough just how brilliant a resouce this place is for MPC owners.
Yeh, you are issued with the bog-standard and somewhat ill-structured manual to be getting along with when you first get your MP, and it by and larges covers the bases for you, albeit in a rather hap-hazard manner !
However, what that manual can't cover for you is the plethora of implementation and functional oddities that you will come up against with your MPC in practise. If it wasn't for this site and many of decent souls that freely share their wisdoms with you, my MP could of met the wall at very high velocity on a few occasions thus far ( and where would that leave my beat-makibng processes ?!! ).
Often, the old addage in life of 'you don't get nish for free' is frustratingly true, but that, thankfully, can never be applied to this place. I couldn't even begin to put a value to the knowledge I have both discovered and been given via the posts here and from those that have answered my own directly ...well, then again, I can : it's priceless !
Many of you posters have dug me out of deep creative holes and carried me to that sonic place I needed to be with my beats and I can't thank you enough.
So, this got me to thinking that perhaps the site should make available a voluntary donation option. Yes, the site makes it money through the sale of samples and tutorials, but I think many of you all agree that with the way samples can be picked up from the Net and via chopping others tracks, these revenue stream are probably not that lucrative for the company behind these forums. Imagine if y'all woke up tomorrow and you tried to log in to MPC-Forums with your latest MPC disaster only to discover that it is no longer there ? Discomforting thought, eh, for the thousands that have got critical help from this place. Worse still, would be the horror of a thought that is actually then having only Akai left to go to for any real practical help - God forbid ( you'll be pushing up daisies above your tombstones before they get back to you with a genuinely helpful and practical answer !! ).
Listen, I know many of you are hard-up in life and can possibly not even afford to by yourselves a much needed pair of shoes half of the time in life ( I know that this is the case for me too often over here in the UK ), but that is why I was suggesting a volutary donation tab ... you are never obligated, but as and when you can, and you want to, you are able to ... simple as that. This may also lead to these guys adding a few more value options to their already helpful MPC information streams ? I just think this would be a little way to give back to the forums and further ensure their existence off into the near future.
As for me, I have been making beats via the MP for only a short while, imagine where I will be with help from this place in another 6 months time ?!!
