How do you guys arrange bass note samples on the MPC1k pads. I want to sample some bass notes from a sound module on the MPC but just wondering how do you guys arrange them on the pads by notes, chords, scale or whatever. I need a few pointers to get me started.

Sometimes I have them spread out on the pads or midi keyboard , and play around till I get it.
Others times I adjust each pad to the notes I need in proper order . It requires a good ear ,but its less thinking in the end.

I sample an octave and half usually from a keyboard.... usually from a low F to a C before 2 complete octaves... or a low C to a F right before 2 octaves.

Place them on the pads and just don't play notes that aren't in the scale.

You have to make them all MONO? (Instead of Poly, so only one note plays at a time. Not mono as in stereo/mono), and put them all on the same MUTE track. That way when you play they don't overlap and they also turn other sounds off when you play one. Also it is usually better to make all the bass samples to NOTE ON so you have more control.

Or you can also change the pad to "Note On" and set the pads to mono, that way you have to hold the pad down to for duration.
