mixing my track inside the mpc1000

so when i mix my track inside the 1000 i noticed i can go about it two ways. in mixer mode obviously i can use the faders to adjust the levels of eash pad. i also noticed from the main seq view i can adjust the v%. is one better or worse than the other and for what reasons?

i was also curious if i could control the faders in mix mode from a midi controller with faders?

I like to use the mixer screen , you can use the Qlink to control the fader and you can record the mix changes .
I use the velocity to control the whole track.

I don't know about controlling it with a midi device .
