I know I can access files from the PC via USB. Can this USB connection work the other way i.e. Can I sample onto the 1000 and move these sounds to the PC via the USB connection? I am a 2000XL user looking to get a 1000 to use with my laptop.

yeah that way you can use you're PC to archive all the ish you sample. You can't use the MPC while its connected unless you have an interface.
